Style Study: Modern Elegant Wedding
The name of our second Style Study kind of speaks for itself. The Modern Elegant wedding. Modern = on trend, chic, stylish. Elegant = timeless, classy, effortless.
It’s a style we are very familiar with, and it’s most definitely a firm fave. To us, nothing beats an elegant modern wedding with styling elements that will stand the test of time.
Let’s take a look at some of the ways we style weddings to be both modern and elegant.
Colour Palette
When it comes to a modern elegant style, we can’t go past a classic white wedding. Including some gold elements, like gold cutlery, can really elevate the aesthetics.
There are so many ways to bring a modern feel to a white and gold wedding, while also ensuring a timeless feel. Including elegantly designed flowers in a contemporary design is key to giving a white wedding a high end feel. However, a modern colour palette can include pretty pastels, or rich deep hues as well.
Fancy Food
A sit down meal in a beautiful setting is a must for a modern elegant wedding. Treat your guests to a fine dining experience at one of the Sunshine Coast’s many luxury wedding venues with menus that will bring the wow factor.
If you really want to take things to the next level, consider putting on a full degustation dinner – several courses with chef selected wine pairings. Spicers Clovelly Estate does this exceptionally well. Unsurprising considering theirs is a chef hatted restaurant.
Dessert is another opportunity to elevate the dining experience. Aside from your cake, you can opt to serve an actual plated dessert. These days, guests don’t always expect this decadence, and it always goes over well. Who doesn’t love dessert?
As for the cake itself, going for a traditional three or four-tier cake complete with floral details – either fresh or sugar – is the perfect timeless element to include at your reception. We adore the work of Zoë Clark Cakes.
Drinks with a Sense of Occasion
I’m sure you’re wondering how your wedding day beverages can add to the styling of your wedding. Well… Champagne tower anyone? This spectacular display of old time opulence is just the kind of show-stopping detail a modern elegant wedding can do with.
If a champagne tower isn’t your thing, there are so many other great options you and your guests will love. A signature cocktail is something we’d consider a must, but you could opt for a whiskey bar or Gin & Tonic bar. Your guests will know for sure you’re super cool, and it’s another opportunity for some classic styling elements to add to the overall aesthetic.
Ceremony Spots
There are a few local spots we particularly love for a modern elegant wedding. A garden setting cannot be beat, and we have styled many stunning ceremonies in the gardens of Spicers Clovelly Estate. Romance fills the air as your guests are seated under the canopy of the garden’s centrepiece – the Jacaranda tree.
A spectacular view is another way to go, and our favourite is the one that provides the ceremony backdrop from the Lookout at The Old Dairy, Maleny.
If you want both a modern elegant wedding and a beach setting with that Sunshine Coast feel, Maison La Plage in Noosa is a great option. It’s a garden setting right by Noosa’s Main Beach.
Reception Styling
At your wedding, your guests will spend a large chunk of their time at the reception table. So giving them a welcoming, comfortable and stylish space to relax into is advisable. So let’s talk table styling.
Layering linens and other textures instantly elevates the tablescape. Our latest obsession is velvet napkins, bringing the lavish feel to new heights. Other ways to add a touch of luxury is with tapered candles, crystal glassware or other specialty glassware, and fine cutlery.
Floral arrangements play a huge role in setting the scene for your wedding reception. Be sure to include centrepieces in vessels that tone with your colour palette and styling. If you want to create the wow factor in your wedding reception, a hanging installation will do just that. We love incorporating breathtaking florals with pendant lighting to create something unforgettable.
Chic Stationery
Stationery can play a huge role in your wedding styling, especially if it’s both functional and chic. There’s nothing quite like the feel of a luxe linen paper finish, letterpress lettering or a wax seal to communicate to your guests that this is a high end affair.
Working with a designer, like Little J Designs or Bluebird Invitations, will help you to convey a myriad of messages to your guests – not only in the words on the paper, but in the chosen fonts, the paper stock they’re printed on, and the design itself. There are so many creative ways to bring your wedding style to your guest, even before they arrive on the day.
Contemporary Fashion
There are a couple of ways to style yourself for your Modern Elegant wedding. Try incorporating a classic wedding feel with a nod to a vintage element in the use of lace or satin covered buttons in a sleek design. Make it distinctly contemporary with a sexy low back or a two piece.
For the grooms among us, you can’t go past a tuxedo in classic black or white. We suggest specifying a formal dress code to your guests, so you will get some incredible images with everyone looking the part on your Sunshine Coast wedding day.
A uniform colour and the same, or at least similar, style or fabric for your bridal party makes for a super sleek look that lends itself perfectly to a modern elegant wedding.
