Grey and Gold: A Contemporary Wedding Colour Palette

When coming up with the styling for our contemporary wedding reception table at The Old Dairy for the Sunshine Coast Winter Wedding Showcase, we wanted to push the boat out on something a little bit different.

We love a contemporary wedding! The style we came up with was simplistic and elegant, pared back with a classy colour palette. Although unconventional, we had a vision for utilising grey with gold. Done right, this base for our colour palette is a very classy modern wedding styling choice.

The Contemporary Wedding Tablescape

We started with the grounding base of dove grey linen for our table cloths, then brought in the light with pure white linen napkins and white handled gold cutlery. We decorated with white pillar candles, alongside stone tapered candles, that reflect the grey tones beautifully, in our new white ceramic candle holders.

The floristry team at Willow Bud created their arrangements in our curved white contemporary vases. The neutral-toned arrangements really popped with the inclusion of sweet, delicate Camomile Daisies.

Bluebird Invitations designed a clean, contemporary wedding stationery suite in whites and neutrals. The menu and place cards finish the table setting beautifully.

The Space

Our colour palette of grey, white and brushed gold was the perfect choice for the reception space at The Old Dairy, blending in perfectly with the existing interior decor.

We set up a chill area for guests to relax and mingle. The star of the set up was our gorgeous new gold drum coffee table.

By the windows, we created a backdrop that would work for both reception and ceremony styling. Willow Bud once again worked their magic to create arrangements to perch atop all four white textured pillars.
